FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & FACTS:
Understanding your Explanation of Benefits from Your Medical Insurance:
The codes on your EOB will look different from those used by your dental insurance. That’s because dental and medical coding systems don’t match up one-to-one. Neither do the descriptions. The descriptions associated with the coding on your medical claim may refer to an "oral surgery" classification and this IS OK and not a reason for concern.
At claimSTAT, we choose the closest medical CPT codes that reflect the dental services you received. Sometimes, the code needs to be adjusted a bit due to the medical code being a more serious/severe service. We also include necessary modifiers and detailed visit or procedure notes from your dentist. This helps your medical insurance verify exactly what services were provided and ensures the claim is processed accurately and efficiently.
Rest assured, every claim we submit includes thorough documentation to support your treatment and is coded accurately. The charge amounts are also set by the federal government and are significantly higher than dental rates.

COMMON PATIENT QUESTIONS:
Can I use my dental and medical insurance?
Yes! It is your right to utilize your benefits to cover needed healthcare services.
Isn't this considered "double dipping"?
No. Your dental plan and medical policy are two separate entities and coverages. Your dental policy is truly a supplemental policy to medical insurance.
What if I have a deductible or a co-pay?
Your treatment coordinator will inform you of your remaining deductible and any co-pay required.
My EOB shows I owe a balance to the provider?
DO NOT BE ALARMED. Your treatment coordinator will talk with you on what you really owe regarding any deductible or coinsurance.
There are additional services I am in need of. Can I ask for a Prior Authorization?
Yes! We will issue a prior authorization to your medical insurance. Once processed, your treatment coordinator will contact you for appointment planning and any out of pocket costs.
My provider was paid more than I expected by my insurance company. Why is that?
The rates for each medical code are set by the federal government. We bill the allowed rate for the appropriate service. Unfortunately, oral care providers have not been fairly compensated in the past as other providers.

Let our expert team take the burden of medical billing off your shoulders, so that you
and your staff can focus on what you do best—providing exceptional patient care.
